Stress and anxiety seem to take over our day from the moment we wake up until we go to sleep because of the uncertainty at work, the tragedies of our loved ones, and the frequent changes.
I gained some important insights into managing the uncertainty of my work and this chaotic life as I learned how to handle the extreme stress I encountered over the years. These lessons helped me to stay calm and relaxed most of my day.
While I still experience challenging moments where I feel like a lot is on the line, these moments no longer bother me as much during most of the day. I have more energy, better sleep, and a more positive attitude toward life. However, ambiguity hasn't gone away, but I've learned how to deal with it better.
Four tips for enjoying a stress-free day
1. Regaining control over your life
We do not have control over most parts of our lives. For example, we leave our homes in the morning feeling stressed because we have no control over our boss, clients, or colleagues. We go to work, and an emergency occurs that turns our day upside down, or we face unexpected challenges at home.
Much of the stress we feel results from our constant need for a certain level of control and certainty in our lives, whether at work or regarding the circumstances we face in various places. While we cannot control the chaos in many parts of life, we can control ourselves. We can prevent stress by exercising control over our thoughts and behaviors. It is an innate ability to shift our focus from external chaos to our internal mind.
We can't control our boss, clients, or even our children, but we can control ourselves, including our thoughts, choices, and actions, which is what we should focus on. We can begin our journey to a stress-free day by shifting our focus from trying to control the world around us to controlling the goals we want to accomplish during the day.

2. Feeling reassured before leaving the house
Since most of our day is unpredictable, we need to feel reassured before leaving the house in the morning by waking up early and following daily rituals. For example, exercising early in the morning is excellent for increasing positive energy through normal blood flow.
Furthermore, there are many other ways to make your day better, like praying and meditating, saying motivational phrases in the morning, kissing your children, hugging your spouse, or watching an encouraging speech or message on YouTube.
3. Maintaining a mental balance between positivity and negativity
Throughout the day, many of us hear negative things from people, including coworkers, outrageous clients, emotionally charged individuals in our lives, or even thoughts from within. This leads to overthinking and often prevents us from moving forward.
Fortunately, emotions are contagious, both positive and negative ones. By smiling at people or conversing with friends or family during the day, we can break the negative pattern and restore the necessary emotional balance. Turning off the news and listening to an inspiring podcast can help us achieve a balance between positive and negative thoughts throughout the day.
4. Taking further action
Taking action makes us feel better because we regain some control in our lives, such as moving forward with a project at work, setting a goal to become more fit, or contacting a new client. When we focus our energy on a specific thing, we can control our small world, and become more able to invest in our potential and share it with others.
You don't have to do a significant action; it can be small and simple, such as making a call, sending an email, writing a presentation, visiting a client, or performing a brainstorming session with your boss or colleague. Working on something intensely, especially if we enjoy it, can help us reduce much of our daily stresses.
Work fosters a positive feeling within us, forcing us to release the stress of overthinking and allowing us to start creating the life or the career we want.
Eventually, reducing stress isn't about quitting your job and moving to a faraway island, although that sounds tempting. It is about realizing that we control our thoughts and actions. This control can never be lost as long as we look inward.
